"Day One"

Well, we've "gone
the distance" with everyone from her mortgage company (who finally agreed
to take a $10,000 hit
just to get the house off their books) to MSD (who told us that we would either have to RAISE
the entire house or not invest more than $30,000 in this remodel...not a
problem....we only have $8,000 to work with....lol) to the termite inspectors (who turned us on to the fact that she
had let the warranty drop over 2 years ago, but after a new inspection finally
blessed the house and reinstated the warranty) to our lender who couldn't get
past asking for bank statements and finally lost our business to good ole PNC....lol...to our
insurance company who has blessed us with fire coverage only until we complete
the following:
Number 1. We have to get the "jungle out of the gutters"

Number 2. We have to replace the front door...

and repair the framework on the backdoor.

Number 3. We have to finish the privacy fence or take down the pool.

Number 4. We have to repair the garage to "insurance worthiness", (although they actually recommended that we have it "bull-dozed")...lol

It was in pretty pitiful shape....:-(

Michael's romantic statement of the day...."Wanna be my C-Clamp?" and I
stood on that ladder and kept the whole wall from falling over while he hammered
away...lol

...by the way, there's the new front door, too...;-)
And Number 5. We had to get her OUT OF THE HOUSE....which isn't going to be as fast as we would like, however,
per our agreement, she has until the 17th to get out. She ended up taking
every last second of her allotted time.

Carroll, my stepfather who's a builder, finally got to come see the house and showed Michael what he needs to
do in tearing out one of the walls.

...and the food has to be cleaned off the walls....lol

We also discovered that all of the insulation is "per code" and won't
have to be redone at all!! Great news!!!

This is what's left of the "attic" and Michael is going to build in shelves
with doors on the front for storage areas.

More pics from "Day One"....where she was having a yard sale.

Also discovered today that there are plenty of vents on the roof....saving
Michael from having to install more.

The vinyl siding needs a good "pressure wash", too.

This side of the garage roof is fine and will only need some repairwork on
the lower wall.
