Four Months,120 Sheets of Drywall
and still counting...lol
We found a fantastic deal on a brand new
microwave that has a built in exhaust fan and light.....Michael, Kenny and Jimmy
finally got it wired in and mounted.
Michael got all the under cabinet
lights mounted....they came with the cabinets but just hadn't been installed
yet. Now there is plenty of light in the kitchen.
The drywall starts to go up in the
office area....and you're looking at the only two sheets so far that
didn't have to be cut....lol
This the upper part of the stairwell which he dry walled while I was gone....thank goodness, I'd have been
having a cow watching him do this....very scary...;-( By the way, the wall
isn't crooked, the ceiling is slanted upstairs....;-)
Behold!!! My bedroom is
completely drywalled!!! ;-)
My bedroom is "L" shaped, Michael
has actually worked 3 rooms into one and this is my sitting/dressing room...and
just to the left is my walk in closet.
Ummmm....we stopped long enough to
see the eclipse....;-)
We finally finished up the bathroom
closet.
Michael keeps plodding along with
the drywall....at the time of this picture we had gone through 80 sheets of 4' x
8' drywall.
Yes, Yes...it the midst of it all,
my A+ Certified technician had to stop and work on my computer....it crashed big
time!! Turns out the little fan on the processor had gone out and the
processor was overheating and that's why I got this screen.....just one more
reason to not leave your computer running all the time....which is our advice to
all our customers...;-) As the screen says, Windows did shut down, but
the computer didn't!! If we hadn't been at home when it happened, I shudder to
think what might have happened.
Michael removed the old window in
the utility room and framed it in.
The baker's rack sits where we hope
to put in a snack bar later on.
And while it really cuts down on the
sawdust all over the house, I'm really getting tired of the plastic hanging
everywhere....lol....I'm just ready to OPEN IT ALL UP!! LOL
Then Michael got himself into
another little project. The Stairs. They were built wrong and the
first step was 1½" taller than all the others and the top step was 1½" shorter
than all the others. It wouldn't meet code and it was really deceiving
when you were walking up them. So, he proceeded to cut them completely
loose from the ceiling, wall and floor....ugh...that was a very noisy weekend...;-)
He mounted braces on the floor so when they were finally freed that would just
drop into place...well, I had my doubts, but I should know by now to never doubt
him for a moment...it worked exactly like he planned and now they meet code and
are properly and safely secured...;-)
The old nasty banister has been
removed and the office ceiling is completely drywalled.
Next it was time to frame up the
doorway that will go between my sewing room and our office....it was time, but
I'm still having withdrawals because most of my clothes had to move upstairs....argh.
Now instead of one long closet, we
have a double wide doorway and still have nice sized closets on both
ends....with lights in them, too!! That's my waterbed you're looking at
through the doorway....it's going up stairs real soon...;-)
I got home from work yesterday and
Michael had put up his last two pieces of drywall on the wall that backs up
to the bathroom and wired a ceiling light in our temporary office...this will be
his computer workshop when we're done.
And an overhead light is going in my
temporary sewing room as well...this will be a guest room when we're finished.
Bruce was here this week and we now
have lights everywhere...;-)
And our beautiful tree in the
backyard is now nakkie...;-(
Michael took the swimming pool down,
too....it was his way of "winterizing it"....lmao
And lights on the back of the house
too....;-) A beautiful new deck is planned before next summer....;-)
He also got tired of the "critters"
and wind knocking the trash cans over...lol
Lights and fixtures in the
office....
Even lights at the top of the
stairs....;-)
Michael decided not to even bother
with the old switch and set a new one....the old one was COMPLETELY encased in
wood....go figure!
And today Michael and William
brought home 40 more sheets of drywall....that's 120 so far....and now he's in
"drywall heaven" again...but after 27 trips up and down the steps, he'd just
about had it for the day. He left 13 sheets downstairs to complete the
office.
It took 2 trips in William's truck,
40 sheets is too much weight all at one time.
Thanks William....;-)
Whew! You know, I had always
heard that there were men like Michael, but I never thought I'd be lucky enough
to find one...;-)
