"The Kitchen....continued"

Bruce will be back tomorrow night and will install the "tinker toys" and build the counter tops.

HE'S BAAAAACCCCKKKKK!! ;-)

He's a cabinet builder by profession but hanging used cabinets in a naked kitchen without a plot or a plan isn't really his cup of tea...he swallowed his pride for us...*grins*

Just like I told you....."Tinker Toys!!"  lol

Grilling by the light of the moon...;-)

Well, Bruce got started early this morning and used one of Karyla's ideas and built some of the extra cabinets we had left over into the corners at the end of the cabinets.

Tonight William met Bruce and I at Lowe's to bring home a truckload of everything needed for the countertops....we also bought the kitchen sink.....lol

Bruce really knows how to "stir up the dust"...sawdust!!  lol

and he also knows how to perfectly miter an angled corner!  ;-)

This countertop is for the microwave.

Forgive me, but that is one GORGEOUS corner....;-)

What you see is the countertop roughed in....he's out in the garage right now cutting the laminate....;-)

And voila!!!  We have beautiful Formica countertops....

....with a beautiful beveled edge....

...and one very tired cabinetmaker trying to finish the backsplash.

This oak edge will be stained to match the cabinets.

Every time I think it's almost done, they tear it apart again for something else....lol

As you can see in this pic, Michael got into a tight spot with the router....ugh

Okay, the cooktop and backsplash are in place....whew!

And now the rangehood....;-)

While I took Bruce home, Michael finished up.

Now comes all the stuff under the sink.....drains, faucets, garbage disposal and dishwasher....;-)

LOL...no, he didn't fall asleep there, he's wiring and plumbing the dishwasher....;-)

I covered the bottoms of the corner cabinets with the flooring vinyl.

And also painted the underside of the countertop with semi-gloss to prevent the steam from the dishwasher doing any damage.

OMG!!!  Finally??  Really???  Honest Injun???  LOL

Michael got the double ovens wired in and up and running.

Finally we got to move the refrigerator from the living room into the kitchen!!!  ;-)

Are you all ready for a "before and after"???

We started with this....

and progressed to this....

gathered another kitchen from here....

and ended up with this....;-)

What a kitchen!!! We absolutely LOVE IT!!! ;-)  We still need to get that oak strip stained to match the cabinets, get the trim work done and of course unpack the rest of the kitchen boxes....lol

We brought the new (to us) living room sectional home Thursday night and are working on the living room this weekend...we've also made some other nice improvements in other areas and pictures are forthcoming...thanks so much for keeping up with our "labor of love"...;-)

Email us with comments, suggestions and criticisms too,

but please be gentle...lol
