Routon's Roost

It all started right here...Harry Franklin Routon, the patriarch of this wonderful family....how could we be anything else but that....he was good, decent, honest, the "World's Greatest Horse-Trader", a good provider, a good husband, a wonderful father and a delightful grandfather! The man could almost walk on water to hear us all tell it...but he'd probably get mud on his shoes and track it in and mamaw would surely let him know about it. *grins* Don't we all remember...the rolled down socks and the tie with every outfit, (except this one unfortunately)...our papaw was just AWESOME!! He'd tell you the same story fifteen times if he told it once, but each time, we'd listen because he was such a wonderful storyteller and he'd probably throw in some new little ditty just to make us laugh...we expected it and he rarely failed to deliver. Here's to Harry!! He was our hero!! ;-)

Lillian Pearl Welker Routon was a work of art in her own right....she always had an ear to listen to exactly what you had to say...she always had a kind word for someone and she always had a bed made on the couch...it didn't matter who's couch it was, she was at home on the couch. That was our "Pearlie", the matriarch...;-)  She raised six children and did a fine job of it...she endured the depression, the '37 Flood, Fort Knox "buying out" their homestead and even their home burning to the ground....but she hung in there, brought her family through and even outlived papaw...she was a strong woman, though she wanted you to think otherwise..."our mamaw"....she was the greatest! ;-)
