Six Months and We're

Ready For Spring!!

When we first got the house, we discussed how long it would take to bring it up to "livable"....Michael's estimate was a year....and me, in my infinite wisdom speculated four to six months, TOPS! Just call me an eternal optimist!!   LOL

Michael and his brother Joe carry in sheets 121-140 of drywall.

Joe just about wore Michael out...carrying up 2 sheets at a time...I was told later that Joe has lots of stamina.....lol

Yes, the pile of junk is still in the driveway....it's just been so cold and wet for so many months that we just haven't gotten around to getting it cleaned up.....ugh!

And this is what my car looked like the day I brought home the 12' banister, 10' dowel rods and 12 pieces of 8' corner beading....lol

My Office....;-)

This is the room I still sleep in but will soon be my new sewing room....why in heaven's name anyone would paint a room AND ceiling this deep dark shade of blue is beyond me, but they did and now we have to deal with it.   Ugh!  The drywall is damaged, but even if it wasn't, it will all have to be redone....very poor workmanship....all the old tape shows everywhere!

I've had sheets for curtains for so long I won't know how to act with the real thing...lol

Masking tape covers the holes in the drywall and HUGE cracks in the ceiling.

I'll probably have to pile junk on either side of my bed when we get it moved upstairs just so I can sleep at night....lol....NOT!!!   lol

The next two pictures are the two closets on either side of the doorway of the sewing room....these will end up being for fabric and sewing supplies, etc.

The hanging rods are just temporary, but right now they are the only closets I have for hanging my work clothes.

And, of course, we got another 3 inches of snow......argh!

We're sooooooooo tired of the snow and ice!!

BUT, if you don't have to go out in it and just get to look at it, it's beautiful!!

The mudding has begun upstairs....actually it started about 2 months ago, but "the mudder" got sidetracked on other things.  lol

This is the h/ac duct running up from the floor joists in Michael's closet and out a vent in his bedroom.

My dressing room....;-)

The attic

My closet door which has to be cut down to fit my closet door opening.

And this is where all the boxes are now...in the master bathroom, of course!!  lol

We finally got a beautiful oak handrail going up the stairs...;-)

And the texturing has begun in my bedroom!!!!   YEAH!!!!

The ceiling is done now....the walls are next!!!!  DOUBLE YEAH!!!!

All of the walls and ceiling in the stairway are now done.

AND in my bedroom!!!!

AND in my dressing room!!!

Trim work on the windows, baseboard and carpet will be the final touches...;-)

A little elf came in the other night and installed the door to my walk-in closet!!  He did a wonderful job!!!  He had to cut the frame off at the bottom and cut the door off at the top to make it work and he did a perfect job...;-)

The "mudman" begins in his bedroom next!!

The handrail was mounted unfinished but has now been removed and sanded and stained to match the stairs.

Just as a change of pace, Michael decided to cover up the hole in the hallway ceiling...lol....the change of pace was now he's working downstairs instead of upstairs, I guess....lol

And then he moved back upstairs again and mudded his bedroom walls.

I got a new Hunter ceiling fan off Ebay for $19.50...*so proud of my shopping skills*  and he got it hung for me....;-)

These are some glass doors that we found in the garage....the glass and pattern is still in perfect condition, but the wood all around it has seen better days.  I really wanted these for my bedroom door, but he can't make the measurements work out, so he's going to use them on the sewing room closets.  With the wood painted white, they'll be beautiful!

With the mudding finished, he moved on to painting everything.....whew!

We both have attic hatches in our bedrooms....two different attics.

I didn't have my camera at the ready, but Joe and Michael brought home the carpeting today for the upstairs...he only has to get the windows and baseboard trimmed and the carpet can go down!!  Yeah!!!
