Three Months and
We're Covered in Leaves....;-)
We have gorgeous big old trees in the front, the back and all around us and we
enjoy them immensely.
This was actually taken just before the leaves started to turn...
We finally were able to set up the table and chairs and have my mom and
stepfather over for dinner.
But this is what it looked like on
the other side of the room...lmao!
Michael and I finally got all the
mold cleaned off the vinyl siding...a bucket of bleach water, a broom and hose
worked wonders!!
And I got all my plants together on
the front porch.... just in time for the first freeze...lol
Bought some "quarter barrels" for
planting next spring.
And we finally got a truck...a
terrific deal, we only paid $100.00 for it...the bed was
full of leaves and water and crud and Michael got it all cleaned up...it's
sitting tilted like that just to let the bed dry out. Now we can haul off
all the excess garbage...but first he has to get it running, so he works on it
betwixt hanging drywall and rebuilding stair cases....lol!!
It was time to close up the other
side of the garage.
At some point, hopefully
in the very
near future, all the nasty green shingles will be removed and replaced with
siding....we're only waiting on one thing.....$$$....lol
As fall arrives, the trees all
around us are just gorgeous.
We didn't notice, but when Michael
hammered up the first board, he drove a nail through an electrical wire and we
lost all electricity in the garage....not to worry, my sweetie found the problem
and
fixed it...;-)
Well, here we are....a momentous
occasion!!! The drywall game starts in the upstairs...the closet framing
had to be completed first.
Thank Goodness and Jim for the
drywall hanger...he couldn't have done a 10 foot ceiling without it...or any of
the ceilings for that matter....;-)
By the way....this was the "time of
the ladybugs" and Michael figures he closed up about 6,349 of them behind the
drywall....rofl
So far, there hasn't been one single
sheet of drywall to go up that didn't have to be cut first....NOTHING is "on
center"....and almost every single room had to have headers before the drywall
could be installed....Michael gets pretty frustrated ever now and then and tells
me that "no one should have to go through all this"....but then he gets his
prospective back and moves forward... this truly has become "The House That
Michael Rebuilt"...;-) *I'm so very proud of him*
Framework and support for a ceiling
fan.
Up on the ladder then down on his
knees....he rarely tires...;-)
Now here's a little entertaining
story for you....I have been asking ever since we had the central a/c installed
last August, "When do we get
to take that ugly air conditioner out of the window? Can you do it now
while there are a bunch of people here to help you?" I'm told, "when I get around
to it." So I wait. Finally the day comes...I pull in the driveway one day
after work and I see that the a/c has been removed, but I can still see a corner
of it wiggling in the upstairs window...I go scurrying upstairs thinking he might need
help.....LMAO!! That thing was so heavy there was nothing I could have
done anyway! Michael had pulled the a/c out of the window onto boards
laying on top of the drywall hanger. When Jimmy, our neighbor across the
street, got in from work, he came over to see if he could help...he and Michael removed one board at a time
and managed to get the a/c lowered to the floor.
So far, so good...;-)
Then the real fun began!! They tell me it's as heavy as a full
sized refrigerator, just compacted. Well, they used (not very wisely) a
flimsy little
two-wheeler to bring it down the stairs....Michael was in front of it and Jimmy
was the driver....lol Oh my gosh....this was so funny!!!! They
start down the steps and Jimmy's not a real big guy and the a/c got away from
him...well, actually it just sorta took over...and started down the steps all by
itself....but not without hooking him under his belt and bringing him along!!! LMAO!!!
I'd give $100 to have had my camera in my hands when this
happened....the a/c tottered down two steps with Jimmy mounted on top of the
handle which means he became airborne....Michael is trying to stop the a/c and
as the a/c tips forward to take another step he sees Jimmy start to go over his head....lmao!!! I'm watching from below
with my mouth wide open in shock!!! Michael puts all his weight against
the a/c to stop it with his knee/leg and just as he does, he reaches up one of his long arms and
kinda "swats Jimmy out of the air".....Jimmy just kinda crumbled to the step he
had previously been standing on.....omg, I'm laughing so hard as I write
this....it was a site to behold.
We would have all been in big trouble if Jimmy had continued on his "flight"....he'd have brought Michael backward off the stairs with him and the a/c
would have followed....all right on top of me....a really scary thought...but
once everyone was safe from harm we all laughed and laughed.
My darlin saved the day again...;-)
I grabbed the camera just as they got it off the back porch and Jimmy showed
us his sore tummy. Sorry Jimmy...;-(
But it was still pretty funny....;-)
The a/c is safely parked in the
garage....finally!! lolol
And the empty window upstairs looks
SOOOO much better now!!
As the trees turn more of the
leaves fall and fall and fall....;-) We just keep mowing over them and
mulching them up.
A camper shell also came with the truck, Michael got it all cleaned up and mounted on the truck...the
truck still needs to have the radiator seared , insurance
and new tags....$$$$$
Our tree in the front yard is almost
naked now.
Kenny, another of Michael's brothers
and a licensed electrician, comes over to "rough in" the wiring in the dining
room/office and for the outside lights and receptacles on the side
porches and beside the patio doors....;-) Personally, I thought the wiring already looked pretty rough, but
they tell me that it's now "really roughed in".....lol
Just for the record, we've only had
electricity in 7 of the 14 rooms in this house all this time, so this is a
really big event for us!! ;-)
Our backyard beauty still hasn't
shed all it's leaves but enough so that the backyard is covered....;-)
My mom and stepfather visit
often....;-)
They collect old cars and have quite
a few so we never really know which one they'll show up in next....;-)
